Skadoosie FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is a Skadoosie?
A: Skadoosie is an infant bodysuit designed for newborns through about 6 months that replaces traditional snaps or zippers with baby-soft Velcro fasteners. It’s made of 100% breathable, organic cotton in the USA to make dressing and diaper changes simpler, safer, and more comfortable.

Q: How does the Velcro on Skadoosie work, and what is “baby-soft Velcro”?
A: Baby-soft Velcro refers to a gentler, softer type of hook-and-loop fastener—less rigid and abrasive than standard Velcro. The hooks and loops are designed to avoid newborns’ sensitive skin, and Skadoosies are specifically constructed so that no Velcro ever touches your baby directly. This allows the garment to open widely (wrap around) so it doesn’t have to be pulled over the baby’s head for changes, making dressing and diaper changes simpler and more comfortable.

Q: Why no snaps or zippers? What are the benefits?
A:

  • Comfort: Snaps or zippers can pinch, scratch, or irritate baby skin. With Skadoosie’s design, those risks are eliminated.

  • Ease of use: Baby-soft Velcro opens and closes quickly, especially helpful during middle-of-the-night diaper changes or for caregivers with limited dexterity.

  • Rear diaper check: Skadoosies feature a slot that allows for quick diaper checks without fully removing the outfit.

  • Safety & simplicity: No tiny parts like snaps that could fail, detach, or pose a choking risk.

Q: What materials are used in Skadoosie products? Are they safe for baby skin?
A: Every Skadoosie is made from 100% organic cotton, with no added dyes or harmful chemicals. The breathable, natural fabric helps prevent overheating and irritation. The baby-soft Velcro is gentle and secure, designed for everyday comfort without ever touching your baby’s skin directly.

Q: How do I care for a Skadoosie? Washing, drying, and Velcro care?
A: To maintain durability and softness:

  • Wash in cold or warm water on a gentle cycle.

  • Fasten the Velcro tabs before washing to prevent snagging.

  • Tumble dry on low or hang to dry.

  • Avoid high heat to preserve the Velcro’s hold.

  • Occasionally clear out lint from the Velcro to keep it fastening strongly.

Q: Is the Velcro strong enough to stay fastened reliably?
A: Yes. Skadoosie’s baby-soft Velcro is secure enough to handle normal baby movement while still being easy to open when needed. With proper care—keeping it clean and lint-free—it stays effective throughout repeated use and washes.

Q: What sizes are available and what age / weight range do they fit?
A: Skadoosie bodysuits are designed for newborns up to about 6 months of age. Please check our sizing guide on the product page to select the best fit for your baby’s length and weight.

Q: Can I use Skadoosie as a gift? Do you offer gift options?
A: Yes! Skadoosie makes a thoughtful and practical baby shower gift. Gift boxes and packaging options are available, making it easy to give a present that’s both unique and useful for new parents.

Q: Do Skadoosies ship internationally, and what are your shipping / return policies?
A: Shipping and return options may vary by location. For U.S. orders, free shipping is available with subscription. Returns are accepted on unused products in their original condition within our set return window. See our Shipping & Returns page for full details.

Q: How is Skadoosie socially responsible / ethical?
